What we collect

Your email address and subscription status when you join the newsletter, confirmed by the link we send you.

Your name, email address and message when you use the contact form. The message is emailed to our inbox and is not stored on the site.

Anonymous usage events such as page views, story reads, shares, searches and tool votes. Search terms are stored in lower case without any identity. Votes and ratings are tied to a random device identifier, never to a name or email.

If you turn on notifications, your browser's push endpoint and keys, your language, time-zone offset and followed topics, so we can send breaking news and the daily digest at a sensible hour. Turning notifications off deletes the entry; endpoints that stop working are removed automatically.

If you create an account, your name, email address and profile picture from the sign-in provider (Google, Apple or the email link), your saved stories, followed topics and reviews. Sessions are cookies on this device; signing out ends them. Ask us to delete the account and everything above goes with it.

Information stored on your device

Cyberttak uses browser storage to remember your language, theme, followed topics and dismissed notices. A signed random device identifier in a cookie limits votes and ratings to one per device. Sign-in cookies exist only for the editorial console. Google and its advertising partners may use advertising cookies or similar technologies as described below.

How we use information

We use this information to deliver the newsletter you asked for, reply to your messages, understand which stories, tools and prompts readers use so we can decide what to cover, limit abuse through rate limits keyed by a hashed network address, and keep the site fast and secure. We do not sell personal information for money.

Usage analytics

When enabled, we use a configured analytics provider to measure page visits, story reads, newsletter signups and campaign performance. Conversion events include only product and campaign metadata; we do not send email addresses, names or account identifiers in these events. Our own event log keeps a hashed session identifier and never the network address. For each visit it also notes the domain of the site that linked to us (never the page or its address details), any campaign tag in the link, the approximate country, and the kind of device, operating system and browser (for example "phone, Android, Chrome"). None of this identifies you.

Advertising, cookies and consent

Cyberttak uses Google AdSense on the home page, the feed and story pages to support the publication. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to Cyberttak or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. Other third-party ad vendors or networks selected through AdSense may also use cookies to serve ads.

Google and its advertising partners may place or read cookies, use web beacons, and process the page URL, IP address, approximate location, browser and device information, advertising identifiers, and browsing or ad-interaction information. They use this information to deliver and limit ads, prevent fraud, measure performance, and personalize ads where permitted.

Advertising is not loaded in the editorial console or on the contact, privacy, terms or newsletter confirmation pages. Where consent is legally required, a consent message allows visitors to accept, reject, or manage advertising choices. Visitors in applicable U.S. states may opt out of disclosures used for targeted advertising or activities that applicable law may define as a sale or sharing. Cyberttak does not sell personal information for money.

Sharing and retention

We share information only with the service providers needed to run the site, such as hosting, database, media storage and email delivery providers, or when required by law. Newsletter data is deleted within 30 days of unsubscribing. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to reply. Raw analytics events are kept only as long as needed to produce aggregated reports.

Your choices

You may unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any message, clear browser storage and advertising cookies through your browser settings, or write to us to request access, correction or deletion of personal information. Where a privacy or cookie-settings control is shown, you may use it at any time to revisit your advertising choices. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
