FTC sent $15.8 million back to Cleo AI users
The agency will mail PayPal refunds to 2.12 million customers after claims about cash advances and subscriptions misled users.

The FTC is returning more than $15.8 million to people who paid for Cleo AI’s instant cash advances.
According to the agency, Cleo AI promised access to “hundreds of dollars” in cash advances, but almost nobody got amounts that large.
The FTC says it never asks people to pay money or share account details to receive a refund.
The FTC also said the company charged extra fees for same-day or instant advances that often arrived the next day instead. It said subscriptions were hard to cancel too.
About 2,124,796 customers are eligible for payments. The refunds will go to people who paid for eligible instant cash advances.
Eligible consumers should get an email by October 26, 2026. PayPal payments start on October 27, 2026.
Recipients will have 30 days to redeem the PayPal payment. The FTC says it never asks people to pay money or share account details to receive a refund.
Questions about payments go to Rust Consulting Inc. at 877 788 4958. The FTC also points people to its refund FAQ page and redress dashboards.
The source does not show how much each customer will receive, and it does not say that every Cleo AI user is included.
