Google introduced an experimental tool called Call for Me for Pixel 11 smartphones. The feature is currently available in the US for Gemini subscribers who join a public beta program.

Imagine you want to book a haircut or check if a hardware store has a specific item in stock. Instead of calling yourself, you tell Gemini to handle the task. The assistant introduces itself and manages the conversation, including waiting through automated phone menus or holding for a live representative.

With this experiment, we look forward to users testing a variety of cases, so that we can continue to improve the feature across accents and noisy environments.

During the process, you can watch a live transcript of the call on your screen. You have the ability to jump in and take over the conversation at any moment if you choose.

This feature builds on existing Pixel tools like Call Screen and Hold for Me. Google plans to refine how the AI handles various accents and noisy background environments through user feedback.

Would you trust an AI assistant to schedule your next appointment?

It is important to note that the feature is limited to specific business calls. Gemini will not contact emergency services. If the business cannot fulfill a request, the AI is designed to hang up, but developers are still testing its performance in unpredictable real-world scenarios.
